Kirchberg: A majestic business district

The Kirchberg / Kiem district is located on the north-eastern border of Luxembourg City

Kirchberg is a district adjoining Weimerskirch to the north, Neudorf/Weimershof to the southeast, Clausen to the south and Pfaffenthal to the east. The district is connected to Limpertsberg and the city centre via the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge. It is located 12 minutes from Luxembourg airport, and has the advantage of a strong connection to the public transport network, especially after the arrival of the funicular, the CFL Pfaffanthal - Kirchberg stop and the tramway, which offers a direct connection to the central station.

A district with an eclectic atmosphere and modern, sophisticated architecture

Kirchberg is a business district with prestigious buildings of multinational companies and financial and European institutions, a large part of which is built on either side of the Avenue John Fitzgerald Kennedy, which divides the district into two parts. It is a Luxembourg district with an eclectic atmosphere: cultural and artistic, family and residential, and commercial and very trendy by day and by night.

In 2022, the Kirchberg district, which covers an area of 336.84 ha, had 7,620 inhabitants. The basic schools of Kirchberg are located in the district of the same name, in addition to the European School, the Lycée technique du centre (annexed to Kirchberg), the University of Luxembourg - Kirchberg Campus and a school residence. As far as sports and leisure facilities are concerned, the district has a rich and varied offer: it has the Centre national sportif et culturel d'Coque, the Olympic swimming pool, a relaxation area behind the Coque, 6 playgrounds, a multi-sports field, table tennis, a sports hall, the Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte concert hall or Philharmonie and the Mudam - Musée d'art moderne Grand Duc Jean, and the Musée 3 Glands.

In Kirchberg, there is also a large shopping centre, numerous shops and a market open every Tuesday afternoon. For excellent mobility, the district is served by 7 bus lines with 52 bus stops. The tramway runs along Avenue Kennedy to the central station, and to the Cloche d'Or district by 2023.

The Kirchberg district is increasingly becoming a residential area, thanks to the numerous residential projects in the area.
